Mbuna (pronounced "mmm-boo-nah") are a large group of colorful, active, and aggressive African cichlids from Lake Malawi. Their name translates to "rockfish" in the Tonga language, as they prefer to live around rocks and caves, similar to their natural habitat.

Appearance: Mbuna come in striking colors and some species are highly sexually dimorphic.

Temperament: Aggressive and should only be kept with other Mbuna to minimize aggression.

Habitat: Prefer caves and rocks.

Diet: Some species are herbivorous, while others are omnivorous.

Care: Hardy and easy to keep and breed.

Aquarium setup: Some suggest overstocking with 20–40 similarly sized and aged fish, and outnumbering each male with at least two females.

Social behavior: Males will fight to the death to protect their territory, so introducing a new male can be dangerous.

When shipping live animals, 24 shipping is required for almost all. Shipping may be adjusted by AO due to holidays, weather conditions, or customer confirmation to be available.
