Purple Tile Fish - Hoplolatilus purpureus

The Purple Tilefish (Hoplolatilus purpureus) is a striking, reef-safe fish with a slender body and vibrant purple and pink coloring. They are peaceful but shy, and make a good choice for moderately experienced aquarists. Here's an overview of their characteristics and care requirements:
Appearance: Long, slender body with a pink body and purple head. Juveniles are muted in color, but develop vibrant hues as they mature.
Size: Grow to around 5–6 inches.
Tank size: Minimum 50–55 gallons with a tight-fitting lid.
Diet: Carnivores that need frequent, small meals of meaty foods like brine shrimp, mysis, and high-quality frozen or seafood chunks.
Temperament: Peaceful but shy, and can be aggressive towards other tilefish. Do best with non-aggressive tank mates.
Habitat: Prefer well-established tanks with lots of live rock for hiding and burrowing, and a deep sand bed.
Water conditions: Stable water parameters of 72–78°F, pH 8.1–8.4, and 0ppm NO3.
Lighting: Prefer dimly lit tanks.
Other characteristics: Fast swimmers and known jumpers. Have spines on either side of their caudal peduncle for defense.
